Have you, like me, heard alllllllll about the amazing flavoured coconut butters out there? Have you longed for the coconut butter, put it in your e-cart, went to check out and been SLAMMED with the $30 delivery to Canada? Have you slowly moved your mouse across the screen, hovering over the X, clicking, and then felt sad in your heart and your stomach?
Well, be sad no more. I have found a solution. And it’s CHEAP! Too cheap. So cheap it might be illegal. But it’s not. And that’s awesome.
Go to the grocery store. Go to the asian / Jamaican / ethnic food aisle. Find creamed coconut. Buy copius amount of it. Take it home. Start:
- 1 150g package creamed coconut
- 2 tsp coconut sugar
- 1 tbsp almond extract
- dash of vanilla extract
- sprinkle of salt
- Microwave: microwave for 20 seconds in a microwave safe bowl.
- Mix until nice and liquidy and even. Add in remaining ingredients and stir until combined.
- Stovetop: melt in a small pan on low just until liquefied, turn off heat. add remaining ingredients and stir until combined.
- Store in a small jar.
Also, quick note on storage! I’d store this in a mason jar, small if possible, and it can be in the fridge OR on the counter. In the fridge it will be very hard, in the cupboard it will be softer. Its totally up to you!
So that is it! It’s easy, simple, and delicious. The flavour combinations are completely endless, too, which is just awesome. I have so many more ideas to try out, so just you wait.

So, you may be wondering how exactly you are supposed to eat coconut butter. There are many ways, but my favourite is Straight. From. The. Spoon.
You could also slather it on fruit, like apples and bananas. Perhaps bake a banana stuffed with this. I think that sounds like a good plan. Play with it! It’s fun! And impossible to go wrong with, I’d imagine.
